SPT.IMG.002 Chapters – Rants Against the Old World
Spitting.img announce Chapters, a Melbourne based video art duo. A digital release of the soundtrack to their new video ‘Rants Against the Old World’ available in 9 August 2024.
Chapters is a Melbourne based video art/music project from Kieran Davis (CAT CAT), and Sam Crocket (CAT CAT, Wizard Oz). Taking inspiration from Alien Workshop’s Memory Screen and filmmakers like Maya Deren and Stan Barkhage, they combine visuals with music ranging from sample-based found sounds, field recordings, synthscapes and experiments inspired by Popol Vuh and Tony Conrad.
Rants Against the Old World was filmed in Australia, Japan and Hawaii from 2022-24 and recorded at the Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio. The video charts a dreamy passage through the other side of the apocalypse. Rants Against the Old World is the second album-length video the duo has produced after 2020’s Throne of Blood. Chapters will be releasing the video 3 August at LongPlay in Melbourne with Bad Ambulance.
